hi all, long time since i actually wrote on the blog. Am just back from Bhupi's class of Indigeneous management.. and it was an open air class in the space besides the auditorium.. It was wonderful sitting out . Cool air . And we discussed how indigeniuos management is different from proffessional management. The genesis of modern proffessional management is in a model. while in the case of indiginious management , the genesis is through involvement of the owner in the business activity. So, in a proffesional set up , you identify structures and posts and allocate responsibilities o people and specify roles . all this before the business is begun. However in IM, the business begins with business and all the other things gradually evolve around the business. In PM, the strss is on identifying people as "customers" or " employees" or 'stakeholders" ..eventually leading to ..as bhupi says..even people not staying people .. In IM however, this stress on converting people to customers or classifying them under some head is missing. So, IM owners are more attached to there people, employees , and customers also. in IM, business is organically connected with the culture ..family issues,,,crisis that the family is facing and therefore evolves around the family. However, in PM, business and culture, family etc are distinctly separate. So, we find that NIKE runs the business in the same way in india as it would do in US. however, the birlas or the tatas or even the kirana wala in the lane has a business which is organically connected to his family, to the community he belongs and to his culture. Also, we find that most of the IM organisations have there roots in some kind of a crisis. The JEWS were persecuted and which led to there evolving as a major entreprenurial community. In india, we find the tatas and the parsi community which came to india running away from persecution in persia. Lot of families which were uprooted during the partition have done well in business. The saraswat brhmins which have a great bankning culture in south india had fled from Kashmir and settled in karnataka.. so is it pain, that leads to a fight for sustainance. ...that means that the root of all success is pain at some point of time . I am happy that i wrote this piece . I think i have so many things to write about. And I feel encouraged ....with my last line the root of all success is a pain at some point of time...... I hope i will be able to rise back like a phoenix .....from my own ashes..I am going to give a big fight..thats for sure love you all.... puneet _____________________________________________________________________________ |
